Vlodrop

Vlodrop (Limburgic: Vlórp), has approximately 2,500 residents and is the smallest church village in the Roerdalen region. The village is located on the River Rur, on the German border between Roermond and Heinsberg. From Vlodrop you can reach all of the loveliest spots along the German border, such as the Effelder Waldsee near St. Ludwig and Vlodrop Station or the Gitstappermolen. On Saturdays you can visit the weekly village market.

Vlodrop borders the De Meinweg National Park. The village has an attractive water mill, the Gitstappermolen, built some 600 years ago in the Rode Beek. From the restaurant next to the mill you can take a covered wagon through the beautiful landscape around Vlodrop. Enjoy a lovely walk through Koebroek Wood, located between Vlodrop and Posterholt, or pay a worthwhile visit to the church or the picturesque Mariakapelletje.
