Melick is located on the banks of the Rur, just south of the city of Roermond, and has over 3,500 residents. At its heart is the market square with the village church. When getting to know the area by bike, you might like to try cycling the Melicker Ohéweg (also known as ‘The O’) to the village centre. The route will also take you to Herkenbosch or Sint Odiliënberg.
In Melick - its Roman name Mederiacum - traces of Roman occupation have been discovered.
The village houses the renovated Prins Bernhard post mill and a permanent exhibition on old agricultural vehicles. The La Diligence carriage museum is also certainly worth a visit.
